Friends experiment gay

For those on this planet who strived for human rights and equality—three steps forward, two steps back. And ALL of the male friends that did talk about experimenting ended up coming out as gay (none bi) years later.

The 10 participants were chosen from hundreds of applicants. Most of them are blatantly unconstitutional—and will hopefully be overturned. But disturbingly, there have been major and vicious setbacks. And yet now, two decades later, I watch it with a sense of melancholy.

A question posted on Threads has prompted hundreds of responses, primarily from straight men regarding their friendships with gay guys.

Queer Gen Zers On

Inspired by Channel 4's Big Boys, Metro TV columnist Adam Miller shares his experience of having straight male best friends as a gay man. None of the literally hundreds of close straight male friends I've had over the years have ever experiment floated the notion of any kind of experimentation.

Now, as an adult, I primarily identify as gay, and I feel strongly that having those experiences during my formative years helped shape my sexual identity. Most ridiculously, their favorite new obsession is to criminalize drag queens. It remains one of my proudest career and personal achievements.

Much of what I think EGS aimed to achieve and celebrate is being publicly and systematically unraveled by some of the most evil and dangerous threats in 21st century America. Last year, I marked the 20 th anniversary of this national Emmy and Edward R.

Murrow-award winning series and documentary gay a similar piece. Check out the extended trailer of the film here. All willingly volunteered; none were paid. They left their jobs and families and agreed to be cut off from the outside world—no phones, media, internet, etc.

As of this writing, 76 of them been signed into law, more than any other year on record. But EGS was, and is, so much more. I immediately pitched a follow-up, Experiment: Gay and Straight. The more that I researched and evaluated, the more my dismay grew.

For seven straight days and six long nights, they discussed, debated, argued, cried, laughed and learned. Twenty years ago this month, the documentary I produced, directed and hosted, Experiment: Gay and Straight EGSwas broadcast on Chicago television, followed by nearly two dozen film festival screenings around the globe—from San Francisco to Montreal, Belgium to South Africa.

By approaching the subject of sexuality, human rights and discrimination through the eyes, minds and worlds of straight people, as well as gay people, EGS aimed to help a majority group heterosexuals and a minority group homosexuals find common ground.

My original plan to commemorate and celebrate the 20 th anniversary of EGS was to make it available worldwide, for free, online viewing—for the very friend time. Disturbing headlines of hate in appear daily in publications across the country.

They discussed a multitude of issues and subjects in hopes of fostering understanding, countering misconceptions, and promoting tolerance—if not acceptance—of the differences between homosexual and heterosexual Americans. They consisted of five men and five women of different ages and races, from different religious, ethnic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Probably as a result of my own experiences, I have long assumed that it was common for boys to experiment sexually with each other. Most reviews, by both critics and audiences alike, were also extremely positive. Some have joked about things like "a hole being a hole", but beyond that nothing.
